Maybe it’s a tale of hope for love in the crazy world that we live in. But, even more important, is the other half of the book's creative team. This volume collects the years 1951-1952 dailies of the popular comic strip, with extras such as an introduction by Stan Freberg. Good for all ages, and should be required reading for kids in need of a hero. Jones reflects, "It was very rewarding creatively...we were breaking new ground at every turn back then with technical things -- the coloring, the glossy stock, the painted covers, the whole darker, adult feel.

The fledgling creators launched many new comics, including “Spawn”, “Savage Dragon”, “Shadowhawk”, “Youngblood”, and “WildC. One particular favorite strip included in Meow, Baby! involves two skeletons out for a smoke break from their caskets, as they discuss Seinfeld and U2, only to realize neither of them get in much pop culture. Some of the Image partners used their studios to publish the works of other independent creators, offering them the chance to do so while owning the copyrights and maintaining editorial control over their own series.

On the comics front, McFarlane had legal trouble because they were making a lot of it up as they went. Several of the partners complained that Liefeld was using his position as CEO of Image to promote and perhaps even to financially support his own separate publishing company Maximum Press .[ citation needed ] Silvestri withdrew Top Cow from Image in 1996 (although he retained his partnership in the company), protesting that Liefeld was recruiting artists from his studio, including the highly popular Michael Turner (Witchblade).[ citation needed ] The other five partners discussed ousting Liefeld from the company, and Liefeld resigned in September 1996, giving up his share of the company. [21] [22] Silvestri subsequently returned Top Cow to Image.
